Fuel The Future

A hungry kid cannot compete in a classroom or on a field.

The problem

Nutrition and learning arrive together or not at all.

The gap between a child who eats a real lunch and a child who does not shows up long before a report card does. It shows up in attention, behavior, attendance, and in whether a kid has anything left for the part of the day that is supposed to be enrichment.

Fuel The Future funds nutritious meals and pairs them with enrichment and mentorship, so the food is not the whole intervention. Athletes from our network show up as mentors, which turns a lunch program into a room where a kid meets somebody who came from where they came from.

The model

We built this to be copied. Every partner site runs the same three part structure, and we give the operating documents to any community that wants to stand one up, whether or not we are involved.

Three parts

What a site actually runs.

01

The meal

Nutritious lunches sourced through local partners, served on a consistent schedule so children can count on it.

02

The enrichment

Structured activity built around the meal window, so the time is used rather than just filled.

03

The mentor

Athletes from our network appear on a regular rotation, not once for a photo. Consistency is the entire point.

Bring it to your community

How a new site starts.

01

A local partner raises a hand

A school, a district, a church, a rec center, or a community organization with the room and the relationships already in place.

02

We scope the site together

Headcount, schedule, food sourcing, and who is accountable on the ground each week.

03

Funding is secured

Through a sponsor, a donor, or a local business. We help build the case and make the introductions.

04

The site runs and reports

Children reached and mentor hours are reported back on a set schedule so the sponsor sees what their money did.
